I hope you all are doing well! I haven’t made a post in quite some time as things have been going well on my end. But I do come back a few times a week to see how everyone has been doing.
I’m feeling a tad nervous tonight, however. I have a 3 month check up tomorrow morning at 10am where my gyno will check to see that things are healed and will also be doing a routine Pap smear. From what I’ve seen on the forum most people have this done at the 6 month mark but I guess this is just how my gyno prefers to do it.
I’m just praying and hoping everything shows up alright. I’ve read most women take 6-12 months to “clear” HPV, and he already advised me it could still show up at this point since it’s so soon since my LEEP was done (July 29 to be exact). Anyways, I’m not entirely sure why I’m posting as I don’t have a specific question. I think posting here with like minded women going through the same thing as me makes me feel better about the situation and nervousness I feel.
I will update how it goes for anyone who might be curious about the process. And if you’re the praying kind, I would appreciate it
Hello good luck for tomorrow I had my 3 months check in August and I was totally convinced it was going to be bad as my margins were not clear but to my surprise it was all good going for my 6 months check in a couple of weeks and really hoping nothing has changed since. Thank you so much for your response! I just left the doctor. He said the area where cells were removed was completely healed and looks great- so thankful for that!
We did the Pap smear and he made sure to let me know since it’s only been 3 months sometimes something will still show up because the body has not had enough time to slough off the bad cells. Which is why he said most people wait for 6 months to do a smear. He just likes to do one at 3 months and another at 6. I don’t mind that, either. He said whatever the reading is will definitely be better than the CIN2 I started with since we did do the LEEP and I also got clear margins and he was very pleased with my procedure.
I’m glad he mentioned the possibility to me as I have health anxiety and would totally freak out if I wouldn’t know that was a possibility and not uncommon.
I’m SO HAPPY for you to have had positive results at the 3 month mark, what a blessing! I bet your 6 month smear will be amazing as well
I think he did? It’s pretty standard where I am to do an HPV test in addition to the Pap smear for abnormal cells! Most insurance companies cover the cost for both. That’s my understanding about it anyways? I could be wrong lol
Okay .mine didn’t I asked her explanation was no point as most people still test positive after 3 months and that she only test for abnormal cells at 3 months and then at 6 she does both. Really hoping I have clear it
That makes sense, honestly! Even my gyno today said most women at 3 months after LEEP will show HPV still and possibly even cell changes as it takes longer to heal! Not sure why he even checks anything at 3 months honestly lol oh well!
Hello yes my 6 months check after Lletz is done and Colposcopy results are HPV positive still but no cell changes she said my cervix is totally free of abnormal cells . She said I still have time to clear the virus in the next 6 months or 1 year and that most people do so fingers crossed I will.
I need to go back to Colposcopy in 6 months to see if all still good . Hope you don’t have to wait much longer for results the waiting is the worst part for sure take care
Hi! So I had my 3 month follow up awhile back was HPV negative and showed no abnormal cells! I was soo excited I have my 6 month follow on the 28th of this month so praying I’m still all good!
